Video of the week

Alright, I decided I'm going to try something new to incite interest here. Here's my "VIDEO OF THE WEEK". The video is parkour centric, which, for those who don't know what it is,
"Parkour (sometimes abbreviated to PK) is a utilitarian discipline based upon the direct, successful, swift traversing of one's surrounding environment via the practical application of techniques, based around the concept of self-preservation. It is a non-competitive, physical discipline of French origin in which participants run along a route, attempting to negotiate obstacles in the most efficient way possible, using only their bodies. Skills such as jumping, climbing, vaulting, rolling, swinging and wall scaling are employed. Parkour can be practiced anywhere, but areas dense with obstacles are preferable and it is most commonly practiced in urban areas."
Thank you wikipedia for being an all knowing font of information. The video also has freerunning elements, which is a flashier, more competitive version of parkour.
The video:
Now, I'd like to ask my follower's views on parkour, so the subject is open to debate.
Also, up to 66 followers! Feels awesome.

  1. So is "parkour" a euphemism for being physical active? Or is it more of a certain belief in certain activities (such as climbing and vaulting) that originated from somewhere else?

  5. I've always wanted to try parkour a bit more seriously. I managed to get a friend interested and we went to the local park and sort of jumped around the playground for an hour and felt kind of silly!

  8. The idea behind Parkour is to move through the city as effective as possible, climbing up walls and trees, jumping over obstacles instead of running around them aso. And to correct you Omega, Freerunning is basically Parkour only with the focus on flips and tricks instead of the effectiveness itself.
The video is ok but as I know a lot of those videos I will introduce you to Livewire, who is probably one of the best known Parkour runners. He has an incredible upper body strength, but just check it out for yourself.
This is not a pure Parkour video, but it really shows the idea and motivation behind Parkour aside from the cool looking aspect.
